The California Walnut Rattan Bedside is an affordable mango wood nightstand with a rich California walnut finish. It features drawer storage, soft, curved lines and woven texture. A good bedside table should be useful at 11 pm and look good at 11 am, and this one is built to do both. If you are shopping for a solid wood nightstand or a nightstand with drawer, it is worth a closer look.
Material and build
This piece is built from 100% solid mango wood rather than veneer or particleboard. Mango is a dense hardwood known for strength and a lively grain, and the natural variations in colour and markings are part of its character. The woven rattan detailing adds texture and lets light pass through, giving the piece an airy, handcrafted feel. Pieces in this collection are handcrafted, so small differences in finish and detail are normal and part of the charm. Drawer storage keeps small items out of sight so the top stays clear for a lamp or decor. Soft curves mean fewer sharp corners, which is welcome in tight bedrooms and busy hallways.
Durability and care
Built from solid timber rather than thin panels, it is made for regular daily use. It is intended for indoor use only. Use coasters and trivets under hot or wet items, and wipe up spills promptly. For woven areas, dust with a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment, and avoid soaking them.
Where it fits in your home
Use a pair on either side of the bed for a balanced, symmetrical look in a main bedroom. Next to a daybed, armchair or reading corner it doubles as a compact side table for a cup of tea and a book. In a guest room it gives visitors a place for a glass of water and a phone without crowding the space. At 18 in wide and 22 in tall, it is a sensible size for most standard rooms.
Styles it pairs with
Boho, organic modern and coastal interiors all suit it well. Its natural textures pair well with plants, cotton and linen, and woven baskets.
